The effect of psychoeduction on palliative caregivers' coping with stress and Quality of life

Aim:The purpose of this research; to evaluate the Psychoeducationon the level of coping with stress and quality of life of palliative care patients 'caregivers. Method:The research was carried out in the pre-test and post-test groupedsemi-experimental design model. The patient's relatives (N = 40) were followed in the Manisa State Hospital Palliative Care Unit within 6 months. The research was carried out on the entire universe without selection of samples. The data were collected face to face by the researcher through the questionnaire in the structured property. The questionnaire consists of three parts: Caregiver Presentation Form, '' Quality of Life Form (SF-36) ',' Coping with Stress Scale''. SPSS 24.0 package program was used for analysis of the data. Findings:The psychoeducation given to the caregivers participating in the study increased the physical and mental health status and quality of life of the palliative care providers significantly. When the averages are examined; physical health status was found to be 12.2%; mental health status increased by 20.6% and quality of life increased by 15.9% in general. In addition, it seems that there is a meaningful difference between pre-test and post-test averages in coping with stress generally. Pre-test averages of 58.83 have increased to 69.76 with an increase of 15.7%. That is, the psychoeducation given to participants increased the ability of palliative caregivers' coping with stress significantly. Results:Psychoeducation applied to caregivers in the study increased the quality of life and increased the coping power with stress.
