Abstract (EN)
Psychological distress is stated that some clinical disorders may start, and if not intervened and persist for a few weeks, it may cause mental disorders such as depression and burnout syndrome. Nurses who take on roles for direct patient care constitute an important group of employees in terms of examining psychological distress situations. The aim of the study is to determine the level of psychological distress and related factors in nurses working in the hospital. The population of the cross-sectional study is the nurses working in three hospitals in the city of Babil, Iraq. It was planned to reach the entire population and the research was carried out with 315 volunteer nurses between January and May 2022. Data were collected through the "Personal Information Form" and "Kessler's Psychological Distress Scale (K6-PSÖ)". The research data were descriptive statistical methods (number, percentage, min-max values, mean and standard deviation), Mann Whitney U test for the difference between two independent groups in the comparison of quantitative data in data with normal distribution, more than two independent In group comparison, Kruskal Wallis H test was applied and corrected Bonferroni was used to find the group that made a difference in case of difference. It was determined that the mean K6-PSS score was 19.26±6.14, the mean anxiety sub-dimension scores were 6.34±2.13 and the mean depression sub-dimension scores were 13.92±4.17. Psychological distress in nurses is high. In order to increase the psychological well-being of nurses, it is recommended to plan mental health protection and development activities on the variables determined to be related to the level of psychological distress
