Industrial accidents in wind energy stations

The precautions in order to avoid and reduce the amount of the risks and prevent the occupational diseases inside and outside of the wind turbine energy stations has been detected and the incidents that happened during every period has been statistically categorized. This categorization has been studied under six topics such as basic construction, dispatching of turbine components, mounting, activating and maintenance process. In addition, the accidents has been studied under four different subtopics such as the tower, the engine room, the centre and the wings. These evaluations helped to reach the statistical data to take actions in order to avoid from the incidents. After evaluating the data that has been gathered from these statistics, the incidents had reported 15% during the basic construction, 8% on the dispatching of turbine components, 45% during the mounting of the turbine, 12% on activating the wind turbine and 10% during the maintenance process. Again these evaluations show the incidents that had reported took place 11.5% on the tower, 7.7% in the engine room, 3% in the centre and 7% on the wings. In general, the statistics shows that the reports has been made 62% due to unsafe conditions, 20% due to the unsafe actions. Since unsafe behaviors and situations are human-induced, eliminating these elements will greatly reduce the number of event reports. To reduce the incidents that is being reported can only be ensured with increasing the time of education of the staff working on the field. SPSS analysis program was used to give certainty to the predictions presented in the thesis study. This study has been prepared by observing the construction, mounting and maintenance process of one of the leading wind turbine company in Turkey. Nevertheless, the solutions has been offered for all the risks that has been identified during the entire process.
