Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Dermatophyte agents on Oxidative stress in cats. As part of the study, 40 cats of various ages, genders, and breeds were brought to the Cat Hospital Animal Hospital, 20 of which were patients with Dermatophytosis in the experimental group and 20 of which were healthy controls. The experimental group of cats had blood drawn from them. Already collected serum from cats in the control group was used. For diagnostic evaluation, all sick cats were examined with a wood lamp. Feather samples were taken from positive samples and suspected negative samples and culture analyzes were performed on SDA agar. In order to observe oxidative stress in serum samples, total thiol, native thiol, disulfide and ischemic modified albumin (IMA) values were determined as antioxidants. In the evaluations made; No statistically significant difference was detected in the oxidative stress values of total thiol, native thiol, disulfide and ischemic modified albumin (IMA) values in the experimental group cats compared to those in the control group. As a result of the examinations, it was concluded that dermatophytosis does not affect oxidative stress in cats.
