Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the significance of the relationship between the development of post-traumatic stress disorder and attachment styles of healthcare professionals during the Covid-19 epidemic period. For this purpose, 249 healthcare professionals, two hundred and three women and forty-six men, living in Edirne, Istanbul and Kırklareli provinces, participated in the research. Life Events Checklist (LEC-5), Relationship Scales Questionnaire (RSQ) for DSM-5, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PLC-5) scales for DSM-5 were used for data collection. Descriptive statistical values such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, lower value, upper value and openness values were used in scoring the data. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the data did not differ significantly from the normal distribution. For this reason, the data were analyzed with parametric tests. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between RSQ and PLC-5. It was carried out by applying the Independent Two Sample T-Test to compare the mean scores between two independent groups. It has been analyzed that PTSD symptoms are seen in healthcare workers who work during the pandemic and face ongoing traumatic stress. It has been observed that there is no statistically significant relationship between the development of PTSD and secure attachment in healthcare workers working during the Covid-19 outbreak. It was determined that there was a low level of statistically significant positive correlation between the development of PTSD and insecure attachment, fearful attachment and dismissive attachment. It was determined that there was no statistically significant relationship between the development of PTSD and preoccupied attachment. As a result of the analyzes, it was analyzed that the status of being under the risk of PTSD differed statistically significantly according to gender. It has been observed that female healthcare workers are at higher risk of PTSD than male healthcare workers.
