Abstract (EN)

Our study was planned to compare the effects of Turkish Get-Up exercise and stabilization exercises on muscular activation, core stability and upper extremity performance in healthy individuals. Fifty-four male individuals between 18-25 years were included in our study. The individuals were divided into 3 groups by the simple randomization method as the Turkish Get-Up Exercise (TGUE) group, the Stabilization Exercises (SE) group, and the control group. An exercise program for 6 weeks, 3 days a week was applied to the individuals in the TGUE and SE groups. No intervention was carried out the control group. Before and after the study, the muscular activation level of the individuals was assessed with surface electromyography (sEMG), core stability was assessed with trunk flexors endurance test (TFET), trunk extensors endurance test (TEET), lateral bridge test (LBT) and prone bridge test (PBT) and; upper extremity performance was assessed with upper extremity Y balance test (UEYBT). It was determined that rectus abdominis muscle activation rate (RAMAR) changed during plank (F=3.158; p=0.043). There was no difference between the change in the TGUE group and the SE group and the control group (p=0.074 and p=0.485, respectively); A difference was found between the SE group and the control group (p=0.016). It was found that there was no difference in other muscular activation measurements (p>0.05). There is a difference between the groups in TFET duration (F=9.666; p<0.001), while the change in TGUE and SE groups is similar (p=0.524); It was determined that the change in the TGUE and SE groups was different from the control group (p<0.001 in both comparisons). There was a difference between the groups in the duration of the dominant and non-dominant LBT (F=12.663; p<0.001 and F=4.675, respectively; p=0.013); While the change in TGUE and SE groups was similar for both sides (p=0.967, p=0.761, respectively); It was determined that the change in the TGUE and SE groups was different from the control group (dominant side p<0.001 for both comparisons; non-dominant side p<0.05 for both comparisons). There is also a difference between the groups in the TEET time (F=5.536; p=0.005), the change in the TGUE and SE groups are similar (p=0.391); It was determined that the change in the TGUE and SE groups was different from the control group (p<0.001 for the TGUE group and p=0.030 for the SE group). The change in the duration of PBT was also different between the groups (F=6.734; p=0.002); the change in the control group was different from that of the TGUE and SE groups (p<0.001 and p = 0.006, respectively); The change in the TGUE group and the SE group was found to be similar (p=0.846). It was determined that there was no difference between the groups for the non-dominant side UEYBT composite score (F=0.349; p=0.707). On the other hand, there is a difference between the groups in the dominant side composite score (F=4.482; p=0.018); As a result of the pairwise comparison; the change in the TGUE group was similar to the change in the SE group (p=0.999) and the control group (p=0.065); It was found that there was a difference between the SE group and the control group (p=0.025). As a result of our study, it was determined that the effect of the Turkish Get-Up exercise on core stability and upper extremity performance was similar to stabilization exercises. It was concluded that the Turkish Get-Up exercise could be a good alternative to stabilization exercises in improving these parameters.
