Abstract (EN)

Balance is defined as the individual's ability to control his upright posture and determine stability limits under different conditions. Provides vestibular system orientation, muscle tone and balance modification. Virtual reality is used to create simulated environments for testing, training, teaching, and treating cognitive, emotional, and sensory-motor processes under conditions of stimulus that are not easily available and uncontrollable in the physical world. In this study, the effect of virtual reality on dynamic visual acuity and postural sway was investigated. Twenty-four healthy young adults (15 men, 9 women) aged 20-39 years participated in the study. Sensory Organization Test, Static Visual Acuity Test, Minimum Perception Time Test, Dynamic Visual Acuity Test, Gaze Stabilization Test; VAS (Visual Analog Scale) was applied subjectively. These tests were repeated to all participants after the virtual reality experience and all tests were completed on the same day. Statistically significant differences were found in the balance score of the Sensory Organization Test and the Gaze Stabilization Test in the comparison before/after the virtual reality experience (p<0.05). Sensory Organization Test of virtual reality in visual, vestibular, somatosensory, visual preference ratios and Position 1,2,3,4,5,6; There was no statistically significant difference between the Minimum Visual Perception Test and the Dynamic Visual Acuity Test before/after. (p>0.05) As a result, it was revealed that virtual reality affects balance and gaze stabilization by increasing postural oscillation.
