Abstract (EN)
The development process of the internet, which began with web 1.0 and continued with web 2.0, web 3.0, and web 4.0, has also transformed users from passive consumers into active participants. In this process, where users have become active by accessing content, creating their own content, and monetizing it, the development of three-dimensional virtual worlds has taken the experience one step further. In our era, this rapid development and transformation have affected almost every sector, from education to health, from economics to science, from the fashion industry to e-commerce, leading to changes in business practices, customer needs, and user experiences. This situation has brought attention to the manifestations of the right to personality and its solutions. In our study, first, we will discuss the definition and scope of the individual, and explain the content of the right to personality. Then, to identify violations of the right to personality in virtual worlds, or in other words, metaverses, we will discuss the definition, development, and characteristics of three-dimensional virtual worlds, their components, and the manifestations and consequences of violations of the right to personality on these platforms. In the final section, we will explain the scope, limits of responsibility for violations of the right to personality, specific forms of appearance in virtual worlds, and legal protection mechanisms.
