Abstract (EN)
Dichlorvos is an organophosphate insecticide, which is widely used in pest control. In this study, male rats were divided into four groups. Control group, vitamin C+vitamin E-treatment (200 mg/kg bw per day) group, dichlorvos treatment group (1,6 mg/kg bw day) and vitamin C+vitamin E (200 mg/kg bw per day)+dichlorvos treatment (1,6 mg/kg bw day) group. All combinations were given to rats orally via gavage for 7 weeks. At the end of the 24 hrs, 4th and 7th weeks, body weights of control and treated rats were measured. Pathological changes of the small intestine tissues were evaluated by light microscopy. While no statistically significant changes of body weights were observed in dichlorvos treated group compared to control group after 24 hrs, significant decrease were observed after 4th and 7th weeks. After 4 and 7 weeks of dichlorvos exposure, pathological changes were observed in the small intestinal tissues of the dichlorvos and vitamin C and E+dichlorvos treated rats.As a result, dichlorvos caused histopathological changes in the rat small intestinal tissues. It?s determined that vitamin C and E haven?t prevented the pathological changes caused by dichlorvos in small intestinal tissues.
