Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible gastroprotective effects of different doses of Idebenone against ulcer-related damage induced by indomethacin, both macroscopically and microscopically, with histopathological analyzers. In the study, 36 female wistar albino rats; randomly divided into six equal groups; healthy, ulcer, idebenon 200, ulcer+famotidine, ulcer+idebenon 100 and ulcer+idebenon 200. All rats except the healthy group were fasted in torlu ulcer cages for 24 hours. Then, 5 minutes after oral administration of idebenone and famotidine, indomethacin was administered orally again. The stomach tissues of the rats, which were fasted for another 6 hours, were taken and examined histopathologically. IDE significantly improved indomethacin-induced ulcer injury in a dose-dependent manner. In the histopathological analyzes of rats administered idebenone, it was determined that 200 mg/kg dose of Idebenone had a protective effect in gastric ulcer. In the results of our study; Administration of idebenone showed gastroprotective effect against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer injury. In addition, our results suggest that idebenone may be a new potential treatment option.
