Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it is aimed to meet the electricity and hot water needs of a house off-grid of the mains in İzmir. For this purpose, first, a two-floored house with a 300 m2 floor area and a with a family of 5 people is designed. Meteorological data of İzmir province are obtained to carry out dynamic analyzes and model system components. A hybrid system based on solar-hydrogen energy has been designed to meet the electricity and hot water needs continually for a year. The designed system basically consists of PV/T panel, battery, PEM electrolyzer, hydrogen storage tank, PEM fuel cell and hot water storage tank. For each component of the designed system, 0-D mathematical models are established in the MATLAB environment, and the mathematical models created are verified with the existing studies in the literature. An energy management strategy has been developed for the integration of the system elements whose modeling and verification studies have been completed. According to the developed energy management strategy, the minimum capacities/numbers of the system components have been determined to provide electricity and hot water uninterruptedly for one year. Based on the results of the dynamic analysis, if 139 PV/T panels, 110 batteries, 13 PEM-FC and 126 kg capacity hydrogen storage tanks (30) are used, the electricity need of the house is met uninterruptedly for one year. The hot water need of the house is supplied by the hot water storage tank. In cases where the need for hot water cannot be met with the hot water storage tank, the hot water need is met with the auxiliary heater located at the outlet of the storage tank. In this thesis, a 132-liter hot water storage tank and a backup heater with a maximum capacity of 4.13 kW are used to meet the hot water need.
