The place of Sayyid Ismâil Jurjȃnȋ's book titled Yȃdgȃr on Medicine and Pharmacology in the history of Turkish medicine and Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherîf

In this study, it is aimed to introduce Sayyid Esmâil Jurjânî's Persian medicine book named Yȃdgȃr on Medicine and Pharmacology by being translated and to reveal its importance in Turkish medical history by comparing it with Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf. Based on the name similarity between the two works, answers were sought to the questions of whether this similarity indicates a reference, whether Ibn Sherįf used Jurjani while preparing his work, to what extent he did, or whether he prepared a copyrighted work. Sayyid Esmâil Jurjânî's Yȃdgȃr on Medicine and Pharmacology was translated and compared with Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf. For the aforementioned work of Jurjânî, Yȃdgȃr on Medicine and Pharmacology, which was published by the Institute of Islamic Studies Tehran and McGill Universities and edited by Mehdȋ Mohaghegh, was used. For the other main material, Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf, the transcription text of the Topkapı Revan 1684 copy of the work published as the publication of the Merkez Efendi Traditional Medicine Association was based. Since many copyist additions were identified in this copy, Fazıl Ahmed Pasha's 989 copy was also included in the study. In general, both works, consisting of five main chapters, were compared in the context of the chapter, and the differences are shown in the footnote. As a result of the comparison, it has been determined that the first chapter of Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf is taken from Sayyid Esmâil Jurjânî's Huffey Alȃ'ȋ, and the other parts are the translation of Sayyid Esmâil Jurjânî's Yȃdgȃr. However, there are also additions made by Ibn Sharif. Another important finding is the differences between the copies of Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf. Considering the examined copies, it is possible to talk about at least two or three versions. As a result, Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherîf, which has many copies in manuscript libraries in Turkiye and which is claimed to be a copyrighted work by Turkish medical historians, was prepared on the basis of Sayyid Esmâil Jurjânî's work Yȃdgȃr and Huffey Alȃ'ȋ by the same author was also prepared. It is a translated work that has been turned into a more comprehensive medical book with the addition of In addition to this, there are several versions of Yȃdigȃr-ı Ibn Sherįf. In manuscript works, it is necessary to study by making the edition critical or using several copies.
