Şibli Numani's understandi̇ng of prophet

The institution of prophecy has been criticized in every period and these criticisms are similar to each other. Today, the value of prophecy is tried to be depreciated with many thoughts, especially the claim that reason will be sufficient. In order to contribute to the neutralization of these attacks, ın our thesis named "Shiblî Nu'mânî's Understanding of Prophethood", the views of the Indian scholar Shibî Nu'mânî on prophecy were researched. Shiblî, one of the scholars of the recent period, adopted the idea of new ilm-i kalam and pioneered this idea in India. He also expressed his views on prophecy with this understanding. In his work called 'el-Kelâm', which he wrote in the field of kalam, he gave a long place to the subject of prophecy. In this study, subjects such as "the truth of prophecy, general objections and answers about prophecy, proofs of prophecy, the possibility of extraordinary events and miracles" are covered. While describing the prophecy issue, Shibli did not break away from the classical kalam tradition and expressed his views with a new understanding of ilm-i kalam. While there were some differences with traditional Sunni theologians in their views on prophecy, they generally agreed on common ideas.
