Abstract (EN)

In this study, Sigmund Freud's Analysis of a Phobia in a Five-Year-Old Boy: Little Hans and From the History of an Infantile Neurosis: The Wolf Man case studies are discussed within the framework of psychoanalysis. The current study is a qualitative study including a literature review and document analysis. This study aims to examine the effect of the name-of-the-father on the neurotic and psychotic structure and to reveal its relationship with the terms anxiety, law, father, identification, foreclosure, and negation. Within this context, in the first part of the study the history of psychoanalytic terms and different perspectives of theorists about these terms are covered; while in the second part of the study, how the neurotic and psychotic structures in those case studies have been shaped since their childhood and how the concept of name-of-the-father affects these structures is explained within the framework of psychoanalytic terms. The research findings of the current study revealed that the term name-of-the-father is not limited to the biological father and gender, its neurotic and psychotic appearance differs, and it is important in terms of castration. For the neurotic structure, the name-of-the-father is first negated together with castration, then this negation is negated again, and eventually, castration takes place for the subject. On the other hand, for the psychotic structure, unlike the neurotic structure, the name-of-the-father is completely dismissed, and castration shows itself to the subject through delusions as a call. In addition, the present study is known to be the first to examine the relationship between the term name-of-the-father and castration in the context of neurosis and psychosis. In this sense, our study is expected to have important contributions to the current literature and expected to be beneficial for its' readers in their clinical practice.
