Abstract (EN)

Today, all developed and developing states in the world are faced with regional disparity problems. In order to solve the problems created by regional differences, states carry out various regional development policies in line with the characteristics of their social, economic and cultural structures. It is known that SMEs, which have become important production units due to the changing structure as a result of the economic crises that took place in the last quarter of the 20th century, are seen as an important tool in eliminating regional differences. Since SMEs are active throughout the country, they have a significant impact on regional development. In this study, which examines the effects of small and medium-sized enterprises on regional development, the conceptual framework is emphasized, and the effects of SMEs on regional development are tried to be discussed from different perspectives. In this context, face-to-face survey interviews were conducted with business owners with 2 to 45 employees in the Siirt region. As a result of the study, it has been determined that small and medium-sized enterprises play a positive role in the development of the Siirt region, both in social and economic areas. However, it has been determined that these enterprises also encounter some problems in general and regional terms.
