Evaluation of the problems of conservation of historic urban texture in Silvan

This study was carried out in order to evaluate the conservation problems of the historical urban fabric of the Silvan District of Diyarbakır Province. Roots BC The town of Silvan, which dates back to the 7000s, has been under the domination of many states throughout history and has been an important settlement that contains the architectural works built by these states. Although Silvan was a very important settlement due to its strategic location in the past, its location on the transit route of trade routes made the area important. In the region, there are structures that carry the traces of the past and reflect the characteristics of the period in which they were built, such as Silvan Castle, Malabadi Bridge, mosque, church, and traditional residence. Since the settlement is an important area with ancient structures and texture, it must be protected. In the introduction part of the study; The problem, purpose and scope of the study are given. In the material and method part, conservation and urban conservation, the development of the concept of conservation, conservation studies in Turkey and the problems experienced in this process are examined. The location, transportation structure, climate and vegetation of the historical area of Silvan, which was chosen as a field study, and the physical development and history of Silvan were reviewed, and books, theses and articles related to the subject were examined. In the findings and discussion part, the zoning plans that shape the urban development of Silvan were examined and information was given. A detailed examination was made of 8 islands selected within the historical texture of Silvan. In addition to the data obtained from the literature review about Silvan, which was determined as a field study, data were also provided through observation and photography. The zoning plans related to these selected islands were obtained from the relevant institutions and the plan decisions taken were evaluated. With all the data collected, the development and change of the area was determined. With the data obtained, the effects of the planning and conservation studies on the area on the physical development of Silvan were examined. In the conclusion and suggestions part of the study, planning studies and conservation studies of Silvan were evaluated and suggestions were made.
