The relationship between primary school teachers' communication satisfaction and school climate

This research was carried out to determine the communication satisfaction and school climate perceptions of primary school teachers and to examine the relationship between their communication satisfaction and school climate perceptions. In addition, it was also examined whether there is a statistical difference in communication satisfaction and school climate perceptions according to the demographic characteristics of primary school teachers. This research, which is a quantitative study, was carried out using the relational screening model. The sample of the research consists of 350 primary school teachers working in the provinces of Gaziantep, Şehitkamil and Şahinbey in the 2021-2022 academic year. The data in the study were collected with a questionnaire consisting of three parts. In the first part, there are five questions to determine the demographic characteristics of teachers (gender, professional seniority, etc.) created by the researcher. The second part includes the "Communication Satisfaction Scale" and the third part includes the "Organizational Climate Scale". SPSS 22.0 package program was used for data analysis. Normality test was performed and it was concluded that the data showed normal distribution. Demographic characteristics of teachers were examined with t-test, one-way analysis of variance and post hoc analysis. Correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed. As a result of the research, it was determined that the school climate perception scores of the teachers were the highest in the supportive principal behavior sub-dimension and the lowest in the careless teacher behavior sub-dimension. It was determined that there was a moderate and significant relationship between teachers' communication satisfaction and school climate perceptions, and that their communication satisfaction perceptions predicted 32% of teachers' perceptions of school climate. According to demographic variables in the research; It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the professional seniority and the number of teachers in the school and the communication satisfaction of the teachers, and there is a significant difference between the duration of work at the school and the teachers' perceptions of the school climate.
