Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines the local music tradition as one of the important elements of the intangible cultural heritage in Mardin province. The multicultural social structure of the region has enriched the musical practice with ethnic, religious and spatial dimensions and provided an original repertoire. The research was conducted in an interdisciplinary framework using both archival sound recordings and photographic documents as well as ethnographic field studies and oral history interviews. The differences in performance practices between the central and rural areas, the variety of instrumental compositions and the mechanisms of oral cultural transmission were analyzed in detail. The study revealed the hybrid structure resulting from the mutual interaction of Syriac church melodies, Arabic mawlid practices, Kurdish dengbej tradition and Turkish folk music elements. In terms of spatial orientation, the different functions of stage-oriented orchestration in urban spaces and anonymous strings used in functional rituals in rural areas were determined. In addition, how the oral-auditory meşk tradition from master to apprentice in intergenerational transmission was supported by digital archiving and institutional training initiatives was examined. The findings show that Mardin music is not only an aesthetic form but also the fundamental dynamic of social memory, identity construction and cultural continuity. The last section includes sustainability suggestions such as preservation strategies, digital archiving, curriculum integration and international candidacy initiatives.
