Abstract (EN)

Being a social creature by nature and in need of communication, human has invented various communication tools and methods from date to today. Technology is developing in a dizzying way and renewed very fast. Depending on the development technology, People also try to fulfill their needs such as communication, information and socialization. The use of the internet and social media, which comes into our lives with the information age, providing two-way and multi-dimensional communication, has started to take an important place in our daily routine. The development and widespread use of social networks have brought some changes in our lives and perceptions in our minds. The social media that people use for sharing posts, as a result of the needs such as communication, socialization has taken place in our lives. The use of social media has also changed the meaning and limits of the concept of 'privacy', which means the state of being hidden and which includes the private area. In this study, the use of social media and the perception of privacy in these sites were examined comparatively using the survey method between the generation X, who was born in 1965-1979 and had to use social networks at an advanced age, and the generation Y who was born in 1980-1999 and met social media at a young age.
