Abstract (EN)
Brucellosis is the most common zoonotic disease worldwide. Brucellosis is endemic in many countries, including Turkey. In animals, it causes significant economic losses due to the abortion and infertility. The bacteria that replicated especially in secretory glands and cells that have secretory functions in animals, in humans usually in RES. Because of this difference, the clinical course observed in animals such as abort, infertility, is not seen in humans. This study was planned to investigate whether brucellosis is one of etiologic causes in patients who have spontaneous abortion or stillbirth. Samples were taken from patients obstetrics clinic low or dead infants and serum samples were kept. Patients were questioned in terms of clinical and demographic characteristics. Blood samples were obtained as control group of women who were in normal pregnancy course from clinics. Samples, brucella antibodies were investigated using the Brucellacapt test. The study was conducted the blood samples received from pregnant women determined as 120 patients and 40 control. It has been found that abortus, live birth and stillbirth ratios were higher in patients group than control group (p<0.05). While brucella antibodies were found in 10 pregnant (8.3%) in patient group, no positivity was found in the control group. Statistically significant difference was found between two groups in terms of detection of antibody at significant level (p <0.05). It should be kept in mind that brucella, may be of abortus cause in humans. Screening tests against brucella antibodies should be performed where brucellosis is endemic in recurrent abortions.
