Abstract (EN)

Sports trainers are people who work for the physical development and health status of individuals in life and who should set an example with their physical appearance. Physical appearance and behavioral tendencies of sports trainers are extremely important. For this reason, in our research, the relationship between the narcissism tendencies of sports trainers and social physique anxiety was examined. 201 individuals aged between 17 and 66, who regularly work as sports trainers in sports halls in Bursa, participated in the research. Personal Information Form, Social Physics Anxiety Scale and Narcissistic Personality Inventory were used as data collection tools in the study. Statistical analyzes were made with the IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 program. The conformity of the data to the normal distribution was tested with the Shapio-Wilk test. Since normal distribution was not achieved, analyzes were made with non-parametric statistical tests and descriptive statistics were given with median (minimum-maximum) values. Comparisons between two independent groups were made using the Mann-Whitney U test. The relations between the variables were examined with the Spearman rank correlation coefficient. Statistical significance level was taken as α=0.05. The reliability of the scales was examined with the Kuder-Richardson 21 reliability coefficient for the Narcissistic Personality Inventory and the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the SFCI. At the end of the research, it was determined that there is a significant relationship between the narcissism levels of sports trainers and their social and physical anxiety (p<0,05). Apart from the sub-dimension of "claiming rights" in women, among the narcissism dimensions, there is a significant relationship between genders with "Supremacy", "Exhibitionism", "Exploitation", "Self-sufficiency" and "Authority" in men and women (p<0,05). A statistically significant relationship was found between narcissism and SFC total and physical appearance comfort (FGR), negative evaluation expectation (ODB) sub-dimensions (p<0,05). It was determined that as the age of the sports trainers increased, the level of narcissism decreased. Key words: Social Physique Anxiety, Narcissism
