Investigation of psychological resilience levels of physically disabled individuals who play and do not do sports

Objective: This research was carried out with the aim of examining the psychological resilience levels of physically disabled individuals who do and do not do sports. Material and Methods: The research was carried out analytically and cross-sectionally, with 351 physically handicapped people who did and did not do sports. The data were collected with the personal information form prepared by the researcher and the psychological resilience scale. In the analysis of the data, the Independent Sample T-Test was used to compare two groups (doing sports, gender, marital status, disability reason) for more than two groups (age, education level, smoking, existing disability type, disability degree, active sports year, sports branch). category) ANOVA analysis was used. Levene Test was used to determine the homogeneity of variance. The selection of multiple comparison tests used to determine which groups resulted from the significant difference obtained as a result of the ANOVA analysis was made by considering the Levene Test result. Results: The psychological resilience levels of the physically disabled showed a statistically significant difference according to the variable of doing sports. The psychological resilience sub-dimension scores of the physically disabled showed a statistically significant difference according to the variable of doing sports. Conclusion: It has been determined that sports have a positive effect on the psychological resilience levels of individuals with physical disabilities. Keywords: Physical Disability, Resilience, Sport
