Suat Hayri Ürgüplü's his life and his politic activities (1903-1981)

This research has analyzed the life story of Suat Hayri Ürgüplü who is a substantial person in Turkish politics and his political actions. Ürgüplü, born in Damascus, in the year of 1903 as a son of Mustafa Hayri Efendi, hold several duties and became deputy of Kayseri on 26 March 1939 after he graduated from İstanbul Univercity, faculty of law. Ürgüplü, became the president of İstanbul CHP also took in charge of ministy for customs and monopolies in II. Saraçoğlu Government in 1942. In 1946, he was involved same allegations of corruption and he was sent to the supreme court after parlimentary inquiry. He was acquitted in trial, organized on 5 October 1948. He was elected as independent Kayseri president from DP list. Suat Hayri Ürgüplü, appointed to the duty of embassador, had remained in office until the military coup on 27 Mayıs 1960. Afterwards, he took part as indepentent Kayseri Senator from AP list in Republic Senate and was chosen as the first president of senate. He was charge with forming a government by Prisend Cemal Gürsel after 28. Government retired from Office on 16 February 1965 and he had been prime minister until te election 10 October 1965. Ürgüplü, proceeded to senate from president quota was appointed to duty of president once again in 1972. After his cabinet list was rejected by President Cevdet Sunay, he was not able to achive his duty. Ürgüplü, whose senate finished, deceased in İstanbul on 26 December 1981.
