Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in Syrian refugee children and adolescents who had to migrate due to the ongoing war in their countries and to offer psycho-social assistance measures. The research sample consists of 200 Syrian refugee children and adolescents, who were easily selected from within the borders of Fatih District of Istanbul Province. Data were obtained for the children participating in the study by using the Post-Traumatic Stress Response Scale for Children and Adolescents (CTSS-SS), the Interview Chart for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Now and Lifetime Version (CDSQ-PL). In the study conducted with the participation of 100 children and adolescents according to the CDSG-PL scale, 127 were diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) according to the DSM-5 Criteria, while 73 were not diagnosed. According to the data obtained in the CTSS-TO scale, 5 (2.5%) of the participants showed very severe, 78 (39.0%) severe, 34 (17.0%) moderate PTSD symptoms, while 40 (20.0%) It was found that they had mild PTSD symptoms. After the wars, great wrecks are opened on the mental health of children and the effects of trauma can become chronic and last for years. Our study is important in terms of determining the trauma reactions that may occur after the war and taking help measures. Keywords: War, Refugee, Child, Adolescent, Trauma, PTSD
