Determination of some cone and seed characteristics of Gönen black pine seed orchard originated from Sütçüler-tota in 2020

Within the scope of this thesis, Gönen Black Pine seed orchard numbered 50, originating from Sütçüler-Tota, characteristics such as tree lenght, the diameter of breast height, average stem lenght, canopy volume, some cone and seed characteristics(cone piece, cone lenght, cone width, seed lenght, seed width, weight per 100 seeds) were determined. For this purpose, the seed orchard was divided into 3 blocks and a total of 270 individuals were sampled, 3 ramets from each 30 clones in each block. The obtained data were evaluated in the SPSS package program. Analysis of variance and Tukey test were performed to compare the growth characteristics of ramets sampled clones in terms of cone and seed characteristics. Besides, correlations between characters measured by correlation and clustering analyzes were tried to be revealed. Accordingly, while there was no statistically significant difference between the sampled clones in terms of growth characteristics, there were significant differences in all other cone and seed characteristics measured except the number of cones. When the results are compared with the results of the scientific study carried out in the same garden in 2015, it can be said that they are similar. The clones that outperformed the others in terms of flower, cone, and seed characteristics in 2015, they maintained the same performance in terms of measured characters. For this reason, these clones should be closely monitored and used in future researches, maintenance studies and progeny trials to be established. Also, the care of orchard should be taken to care in the ongoing process. The causes of individual deaths should be investigated and necessary precautions should be taken in the garden.
