Abstract (EN)

In this study, in order to determine the perception of garden in Turkish poetry from the Tanzimat to the Republic, the works of the poets in the mentioned period were subjected to metaphorical analysis. In the study, which is based on the "modern metaphor theory" perspective, the garden metaphor reflected in the poetics of the poets; evaluated in a simultaneous and comparative method. The poets in the Tanzimat First and Second Period, Servet-i Fünun, Fecr-i Ati and National Literature Periods were studied. In addition, independent poets such as Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, who were not included in these periods, were also included in the study. The data of the study was obtained with the document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, and attention was paid to both the comparison of the poets within themselves and the comparison between the periods. The perception of nature and garden in the traditional approach has been determined and evaluated in the works of the poets who are the subject of the study. The historical process reflecting the transition between tradition and modern poetry; determined in the context of changes and transformations. Traditional metaphors belonging to nature were determined and original metaphor structures in the following periods were examined. Thus, the garden map, which is located between the old and the new, has been presented with a holistic perspective. The study in question is designed in four separate sections. In the first part, the garden of the lover is included and traditional and new garden perceptions are emphasized. In the second part, the metaphors of the ruined, luminous and utopian garden in the poet's perception of self were determined. In the third part, the perception of the garden, which is seen on the belief garden, is discussed in the context of traditional and original metaphoric structures. In the last part of the study, under the title of the garden of the state, the garden of the ruler, the prosperous garden of the administration, the deteriorated garden of the authority and the back garden of the Republic are included. The general data obtained in the study were briefly summarized in the Conclusion section. In addition, all documents used in the study are also included in the References section.
