Dream in sufism

This study examines in detail the place and importance of dreams in Sufism. Dreams have been considered one of the most ancient and mysterious phenomena of humanity. Throughout history, different civilizations have tried to understand the nature of dreams, and soothsayers and magicians have undertaken important duties in the interpretation of dreams. While modern psychology evaluates dreams as a reflection of the subconscious, important figures such as Freud and Jung have contributed to this field with their dream theories. Freud viewed dreams as the symbolic expression of repressed desires and conflicts in the subconscious, while Jung evaluated dreams as a world full of archetypes of the collective unconscious. In Islamic culture, dreams have been seen as valuable tools that carry divine messages and provide spiritual guidance. The importance of dreams has been emphasized in the Quran and hadiths, and the life of Hz. Yusuf (pbuh) and Hz. The dreams of Muhammad (pbuh) have revealed the place of dreams in religious and spiritual life. Islamic scholars have stated that dreams should be classified as divine, egoistic and satanic and have drawn attention to the importance of interpreting dreams correctly. Sufism is a discipline in which dreams are considered as an important element that guides spiritual journeys and reveals divine secrets. In Sufi literature, how dreams are used in mentor-disciple relationships and the role of dreams in spiritual education and training are discussed in detail. The important place that dreams have in the lives of great Sufis, the effects of dreams on their spiritual development and the divine guidance they provide are explained with examples. This study emphasizes the importance of dreams in human consciousness by revealing how dreams are considered from a Sufi perspective, their place and importance in Sufi thought.
