Investigation of indoor use of textile desgn

VIII ABSTRACT INVESTIGATION OF TEXTILE DESIGN INDOOR USE Textile has emerged as a result of the need for protection and covering from external factors. Design has reached its current meaning with the combination of craft and machinery after the Industrial Revolution. In this context, it is possible to say that the history of textile design covers the period from the Industrial Revolution to the present day. The change in the history of textile design from craft to digital, discussed in the sub-headings of weaving, knitting, printing and clothing design, has been discussed in the axis of socio-cultural structure with technological advances since the 20th century. The aim is to outline the change process of the history of textile design through the prominent designs of the periods and to form a step for further research. As the purpose of usage of textile products and the meanings imposed on them vary over time, it is known that all textile products are shaped according to the conditions of the day and the cultural structures of the societies. In this respect, textile products are accepted as cultural elements that reflect the characteristics of societies in terms of materials, forms and designs. The design culture and context, which was dominant in developed societies after the Industrial Revolution, led to the development, reinterpretation of production techniques in the textile sector as well as all other sectors, and the search for design with the use of different materials. The aim of this study is to examine the reflections of textile usage on interior design.
