Abstract (EN)

The recommended decision-making strategy that nurses can use in clinical decision is evidence-based practice. Nurses' use of evidence-based practice is inadequate and one of the main reasons for this is their lack of knowledge and skills. Through flipped learning, which is a versatile and technology-enhanced educational model, nurses can acquire knowledge, skills and competence in the use of evidence-based practice. The aim of the study was to plan evidence-based practice competence training based on the flipped learning model and to determine the effect of the planned training on nurses' evidence-based practice knowledge, skills and competence. The study was conducted using a mixed methods research design with an explanatory sequential design. In the quantitative dimension, a single-group quasi-experimental design with pre-test-post-test measurements was used; in the qualitative dimension, nurses' opinions about the flipped learning model were obtained through individual in-depth interviews. The study was conducted with 19 nurse managers working in a teaching and research hospital. Data were collected using a Nursing Information Form, an Evidence Based Practice Knowledge Test and an Evidence-based Practice Competence Questionnaire. Quantitative data in the study were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values were analysed using Shapiro-Wilk, Friedman and Wilcoxon signed rank tests. Independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used in the case of normal distribution of data, and Bonferroni-corrected post hoc tests were used in the case of differences between groups. Content analysis was preferred for the analysis of qualitative data. In all analyses, the significance level was accepted as p<0.05 and the confidence interval as 95%. The study was registered in the ClinicalTrials.gov database under the identifier NCT06988878. According to the results obtained from the research, it was observed that training based on the flipped learning model increased nurses' knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice, did not create a statistically significant change in attitude and competency levels, and nurses reported positive views on the use of this model. In conclusion, this study shows that flipped learning model is an effective model for developing nurses' knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice.
