Abstract (EN)

Understanding social structure requires knowledge of various factors, among which economy and religion are prominent. Religion and the economy are considered fundamental elements shaping the core structure of a society's way of life and worldview. While change occurs rapidly in some societies, it is slower in others. In societies where social change is slow, the development and transformation of the economy and religion also tend to be gradual. Accordingly, it is evident that, in addition to social change, both the economy and religion influence professional groups, beliefs, worship practices, and dimensions of social life within traditional, modern, and postmodern perspectives. The purpose of the study is to reveal the relationship between religion and economic life among different occupational groups in Yerköy, analyze the impact of this relationship on belief, worship, and social life, and evaluate the connection between these effects and social change processes. The specific objectives are: a) To analyze the dimensions of the relationship between economic models and religion in Yozgat/Yerköy. b) To examine the relationship between traditional production methods and religious life. c) To investigate the impact of modernization and mechanization on religious life. d) To evaluate the relationship between the post-modern free enterprise model and individual religious practices. The study is limited to individuals residing in Yozgat/Yerköy who are employed in a profession. The research data were collected between 2023-2024, focusing on the socio-economic and religious structures of the participants. The study examines the relationship between religion and the economy from the perspective of sociology of religion and is limited to the sources available in the literature. This study contributes to the literature by examining the relationship between religion and economy within the context of societal models, offering a broader perspective on how these two concepts interact. The study provides significant insights into the role of religion in social life and its relationship with economic life, especially in countries like Turkey that are undergoing socio-economic transformation processes. The study's findings reveal significant differences and similarities in the dimensions of belief, worship, and social life. In the traditional model, religious rituals and beliefs are closely intertwined with economic activities. In the modern model, the influence of religion is evaluated on a more rational basis, whereas in the post-modern model, individual religious practices are prominent, and the connection with economic life is weakened. These findings offer important insights into understanding the impact of social change processes on the relationship between religion and economy.
