An investigation on the level of ethical sensitivity of medical students

Medical faculties are educational institutions that teach and convey the values, knowledge and skills of the medical profession to the students. Both the theoretical courses and the practical courses for the practice of the medical profession are a part of the medical ethics education, in which the ethical behavior of the medical student in his relations with the patients who apply to him in the future, his colleagues and the culture in which he is active becomes meaningful. Intern students; In many cases the intern students have encountered a perspective like single physician, single patient and saw in practice how the patient should be treated such as medical confidentiality, informed consent, telling the diagnosis to the patient and caring for the dying patient. Medical education aims to provide knowledge that is useful to society. But today they will have to face issues that are not aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of collection. At this stage, they will need ethical principles and they will experience ethical dilemmas and value conflicts due to the differences they face in practice contrary to the education they had during their lectures. It is important to determine the effect of medical faculties in the adoption of positive personal, professional and social values by recognizing their value systems until students are graduates, and in ethical sensitivity of contact with the patient.In the study, applied to NEU Faculty of Medicine students, it was ensured that the sensitivity of the students to the ethical problems experienced during work of health services was determined. In the study, questionnaires and scales were applied to all classes, and a total of 402 students were interviewed. The students' ADA scale total score average was determined as 103.56±26.68. A positive and significant (0.00) correlation was obtained between the ADA total score and the class (p<0.05).
