Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to perform a close reading of three texts, namely, The Color Purple (1982) by Alice Walker, Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza (1987) by Gloria Anzaldua, and Black Girl, White Girl (2006) by Joyce Carol Oates in the light of Trauma theory and Postcolonial Feminist theories in order to analyze the traumas experienced individually and/or collectively. It will analyze the processes of 1-) confronting the trauma, 2-) reconstructing the traumatic experience, and 3-) reconciling the traumas experienced, in a three-staged study, to identify its impact on the characters' reconstructing a new identity. As a result, it will scrutinize the transformation of the characters by transforming from silent "objects" in the early stages of trauma to eventually become speaking "subjects".
