Burnout syndrom and factors that affect burnout among health care workers (The Example of Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Yeducation and Research Hospital)

Burnout syndrome is a fairly common ailment among people working in the human service organizations and have constant contact with other people. This syndrome appear because of the inability to cope with stress due to the depilation of resources as energy, power, or through excessive demand. Early knowledge of the burnout syndrome is the most effective way to maneuver and get over it. In this paper the author has tried to explain the factors that affect burnout syndrome and showed that health care workers are highly exposed workers compared with other human service organizations. Further has burnout syndrome, factors that affect burnout and the impact on health care workers been investigated and explained. The data has been conducted at the Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Education and Research Hospital (DEAD) and aimed to investigate the relationship between burnout of health care workers and the factors affecting the level of burnout. At this part of the research has the Maslach Burnout Inventory been used in order to get access to personal information and obtain information about demographic characteristics questionnaire with total of 48 questions were used. 350 health care personnel were interviewed and the obtained results were analyzed with the help of SPSS 16.0 package program. As a result of this paper indicated, the workers demographic characteristics such as, age, sex, marital status, education level, work experience has a certain impact on burnout syndrome. Furthermore the amount of workload, the work satisfaction, chronic illness or intellectual disability in the family, the amount of work experience, employee relations, and the amount of work hours, being appreciated by supervisors, the lack of staff and the increased level of stress have found to be conditions that affect burnout syndrome positively.
