Tattooed bodies as a reflection of consumption practices

From the past to present the phenomenon of consumption has emerged from a physiological consept and has turned into a socİological consept and has taken a symbolic posîtion. Pierre Bourdieu is a socİological who studies cultural consumption practices wİthİn the framevvork of social classes İn his work titled "Dİstinction" in 1979. With the differences in cultural Capital of the social classes in the social sphere, the share of different appreciation structures is important in the effort of the lower and middle classes to gain social status in order to reach the ruling class. In his Works, Bourdieu tried Show his active role İn the fıeld of cultural consumption, based on the concept of taste. While the classes with the same taste preferences in the society come together, they exclude other tastes. In this study, the reflection of the consumption phenomenon, whİch can be realized in every arca of society, on bodies and the tastes and social structure of individuals from the perspective of Bourdieu, the existence and meaning of class and cultural inequalities in tattoo practices are discussed. in the study conducted on tattoo practices, in depth interviews were conducted with 20 participants in order to understand the relationship of individuals with their tattoos, and in 1 İne with the results obtained, the tattoo tastes of the participants, their social relations, class, distinctİon and cultural Capital were analyzed. In this context, the structural factors behind the similar and different perceptions of taste of individuals through tattoo symbols as a reflection of consumption were analyzed and the lines of relationship between social origin and tattoo tastes were drawn.
