Parliamentary inquiry in Turkish political life and parliamentary inquiry on the Republican People's Party in the Democratic Party era

In this study which we write as a PhD thesis; it was aimed to clarify all phases of the Parliamentary inquiry to investigate the alleged illegal activities of the Republican People's Party and some of the press in the last period of the Democrat Party government, before the 27 May 1960 Military Intervention. In this study, the conceptual, theoretical and historical infrastructure of the notion of Parliamentary inquiry was analyzed, the political process experienced before and during the Parliamentary inquiry on the activities of the Republican People's Party and some of press was discussed and in particular, the way in which the inquiry was conducted and the information obtained during the inquiry were tried to be put forward. The study is generally an archive work. At the end of the study, detailed information about the two different branches of the Parliamentary inquiry conducted on the Republican People's Party and the dissident press was presented. The inquiry, which could not be concluded due to the 27 May 1960 military intervention, revealed that the Republican People's Party and the opposition press acting with it, carried out systematic propaganda activities against the Democrat Party government, especially after the 1957 elections. Describing this activity as illegitimate, the Democratic Party claimed that the Republican People's Party intended to come to power by using illegal methods. It is hoped that this work will make the period of the Democratic Party more understandable and lead to similar studies.
