Abstract (EN)

Turkish politics has undergone a significant change over the last two hundred years. While this change builds the institutions and rules of modern politics, it moves towards integration with the West. However, within the dynamics of change, there are some phenomena that resist or disrupt change. The most important of these phenomena is the state's position as a subject in politics, and therefore the shaping of politics in the direction of the state's needs, wishes and concerns. In fact, the fundamental force that mobilizes the dynamic of change lies here. When the state, which was traditionally an existential resource for society, began to worry about survival at the beginning of the 19th century, change became a necessity. Survival anxiety is a state of anxiety that occurs as a result of deadly threats to existence. Since the threat contains uncertainties about the future, the threatened entity has to take some precautions by making changes in its lifestyle. The state, whose concern for survival deepened in Turkish politics, seems to have initiated the change in politics. However, in the course of the change, he preferred to compress politics into an area that he determined himself. On the other hand, the Ottoman Empire had to face the approaching threats with the concern of its survival and to live the feared fate personally. Therefore, Kemalist cadres, who formed a part of the imperial bureaucracy, took over the traumas of the previous regime while building the Republican regime. In the republican regime, the effect of the state's survival concern on politics is more evident with the effect of the traumatic legacy. It is understood that military interventions made periodically in the political system, political parties associated with threats, criminalized political thoughts or authoritarianism seen from time to time in the political regime have a significant relationship with the deepened concern for the survival of the state.
