Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to estimate the determinants of life satisfaction in Turkey by using six different domain satisfactions. Hereby, it will be possible to drive more efficient policy implications from the domain satisfactions. Life Satisfaction Survey Micro Data Set of Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) is used in the study for the period of 2013-2017. The domains of life satisfaction are estimated by using Ordered Probit Model (OPM), and the overall life satisfaction is estimated by Instrumental Variable-Ordered Probit Model (IV-OPM) with Roodman's user-written Stata command CMP (Conditional Mixed-Process). First, the determinants of six domain satisfactions are estimated and evaluated separately. Then, the determinants of overall life satisfaction are estimated simultaneously using the regressions created for the six domain satisfactions. In this way, happiness is evaluated in various aspects. The empirical findings of the study show that life satisfaction is strongly influenced by financial satisfaction and marriage satisfaction in Turkey.
