Urban transformation application in Turkey: Kocaeli 28 June Neighborhood example

The cities have taken part in a continuous change and transformation within the historical process. Especially the unplanned, unscheduled and unstructured migration movements formed rapidly to the city centers and their surroundings after the industrial revolution created negative living spaces. This situation also pushed people to seek healthy urban areas. These unhealthy conditions bring about urban transformation. Urban regeneration brings about economic, social and cultural consequences as well as the renewal of physical tissue. Kocaeli, Turkey is one of the provinces with the largest economy. The basis of its economy is the industrial sector. A large part of the leading companies in Turkey within the boundaries of the city. This situation causes the city to receive continuous migration. The August 17, 1999 Marmara earthquake caused great damage in the city. After this situation, the city was renewed and ideas were put forward for the elimination of this debris. In this study, demographic, physical, environmental and social structure of a district of Kocaeli which is a district of Kocaeli was analyzed with a survey. The perspective of urban transformation was analyzed by a survey. As a result of the survey, it was concluded that 28 June Neighborhood residents were willing to be involved in urban transformation projects. Key Words: Kent.
