Investigation of the sustainability performance of professional football clubs in Turkey

The purpose of this research is to examine the sustainability performance of professional football clubs in Turkey. During the study, in the first part, the concepts of sports and sports sustainability were examined in detail, and then the environmental, social and economic sustainability of the clubs were discussed gradually. In the second part, the sustainability criteria are revealed and the financial, financial, organizational and operational necessity of sustainability performance is emphasized. In the third part, the requirements for Turkish football clubs to consider sustainability practices in a holistic manner and to make their evaluations accordingly are mentioned. In the final section, the importance of adopting the principles of independent, impartial, trustworthy, value-adding, contributing, transparent and accountability in the governance of sports was emphasized, and opinions and suggestions were presented with the aim of contributing to the content of corporate sustainability. In the study, national and international literature reviews were conducted in order to evaluate the corporate sustainability performance of professional football clubs in our country within the framework of economic, social and environmental dimensions, including governance principles, and a qualitative research design was used. Document analysis and content analysis methods were used in the analysis of qualitative data. Since it was aimed to create an integrity under certain themes of the obtained data, content analysis was used. When content analysis is applied; It was observed that the themes of "performance", "development", "competition" and "governance and institutionalization" emerged in the analysis of corporate sustainability in football clubs. As a result, in our age of the outcomes of this work first in the field of world football ecosystem of creative and high multiplier effect ideas, models, systems and applications with professional football clubs in Turkey are expected to lead to be well attended.
