Opinions of Social Aid and Solidarity Foundations' employees in türkiye on minimum income support

Social aid, especially cash assistance, is one of the fastest means of social policy used in the fight against poverty. As of 2022, 49 different social aid programs are implemented in Türkiye and the share allocated to social aid from the national budget has quadrupled in the last twenty years. The most effective methods using the available resources to fight poverty are being researched on which new policies can be formed throughout the globe as well as in our country. Social Aid and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) are the most effective institutions in the distribution of public social aid with their institutional structures organized in all provinces and districts throughout Türkiye and their experienced employees on the field. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to SYDV employees across Türkiye and their views on the Minimum Income Support (AGD) Application were investigated. In the study, snowball survey method was used and 379 social assistance and review officers were reached and their perceptions of the current social assistances, social assistance- employment relationship and minimum income support application and their thoughts on how AGD could be implemented in our country were tried to be investigated. It is important that it is the first study with SYDV investigation and rewiev employees on the topic of minimum income support and it gives important outputs to the policy makers in terms of its results. The opinions of practitioners on the field at a time, especially in the upcoming period which is characterized as the social assistance plus period, will also guide how social assistance might evolve in Türkiye and the studies to be carried out from now.
