A study of children's books published by Turkiye Diyanet Foundation according to the principles of children's literature

It has taken long years that the words child and literature have been used side by side as an independent literature. With the widespread use of children's literature, the works have gained diversity in terms of genre and subject. In this study, the works of the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, which has publications in the field of children's literature, consisting of 12 books called "Kardeş Şehirler", have been examined. An attempt has been made to reveal the place and importance of these works in children's literature. The purpose of the study is to determine whether the "Kardeş Şehirler" series books published by the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation comply with the internal structure and external structure elements, which are among the principles of children's literature. Another aim of this study is to examine these works published in the field of children's literature from a religious, moral and spiritual perspective. In the present study, the data have been collected using the document review technique of qualitative research methods and analysed using the content analysis method. In the theoretical framework of the study, general information about children and children's literature, the general policy of the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation publications, and the relationship between children's literature and religion are included. In the results section, the "Kardeş Şehirler" series books published by Turkiye Diyanet Foundation have been examined in terms of internal and external structure features. In the conclusion part of the study, it has been deduced that the works in the series generally comply with the principles of children's literature and therefore these works are suitable to be used as a resource for parents, educators and academics.
