Abstract (EN)
The concept of a landbridge refers to different types of integrated origin-destination international movements of shipments (in various combinations of sea, land and air) under a single waybill. There are different examples of landbridgeswith different characteristics related to transport supply facilities, organisationalstructure and managerial skills. Certain limitations of existing landbridge studiesare discussed. They include the failure of a comprehensive academic study toaccount jointly for both demand and supply of landbridge services. Most articleson landbridges discuss the Trans-Siberian Railway or east-west coast landbridgesof the United States of America. No comprehensive academic studies oflandbridges in general were found. The main features of the research can besummarised as:A comprehensive review of literature related to landbridgesAn investigation and analysis of Turkey transport supply and demandincluding both domestic and foreign tradeAn investigation and analysis of the demand of the Central Asian andEuropean Union countries for transportThe development of a demand and supply model related to an TurkeyLandbridge along the north-south and east-west axisesEvaluation of the impacts of demand on landbridge supply.A comprehensive review of the scenario approach and its application to theTurkey Landbridge study using a regression techniqueTwo scenarios are developed about the reestablishment of Turkey as a logisticslandbridge. The main result of the scenario modelling suggests that the transportsystem of Turkey requires considerable improvement to compete effectively withother landbridges and integrated infrastructure at East-West and North-Southaxises.v
