Drug smuggling and terrorist organisations in Turkey: Asala-PKK-Hezbollah examples

Terrorist organizations have maintained their existence as a security problem for states throughout history. In times when globalization was relatively slow and the world was less interactive, terrorist organizations that remained local started to become a supranational problem with increasing global relations. Global relations have further developed due to factors such as international trade, transportation and travel, which increased with the opportunities that developed especially after the Second World War. Taking advantage of these opportunities, terrorist organizations have adapted to globalization and have become an international threat. In this context, international drug trafficking has become one of the most important sources of income for terrorist organizations. Located on the Balkan Route, the most important of the world's major drug trafficking routes are under threat in Turkey in drug trafficking.
