Abstract (EN)

This study shows that three wild pear species, one of which is endemic, (including P. anatolica, P. amygdaliformis and P. elaeagnifoli) leaf, branch and of the fruit extract, chemical properties, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antikansorojenik effect was investigated. Total phenolic contents (TPC) were calculated using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, while total flavonoid contents (TFC) were calculated using the Aluminum Chloride Colorimetric method. Phenolic and flavonoid substances were determined by HPLC analysis. Antioxidant activities were determined by DPPH, ABTS and Fe+3 reduction capacity experiments. The highest TPC and TFC values were determined in the branch of P. anatolica (20,903 ± 0,025mg GAE/g KA-47,020 ± 1,652mg CAE/g KA). The branch of P. amygdaliformis showed the highest DPPH radical inhibition (94,72%), while the fruit of P. elaeagnifolia exhibited the lowest inhibition (53,62%). The leaf and branch of P. anatolica and the leaf of P. amygdaliformis (99,00%) showed the highest ABTS activity, while the lowest inhibition was observed in the fruit of P. amygdaliformis (24,45%). Similar to DPPH and ABTS activities, the lowest Fe +3 reduction activity of Pyrus extracts was determined in fruit. In addition, the highest Fe+3 reduction capacity was observed at the concentration of 0,0175 mg/mL for the branch of P. anatolica. Flavonoids in extracts were higher than phenolic acids. For the antimicrobial activity, agar well diffusion method was used and the most resistant microorganism was E. coli, while P. amygdaliformis fruit (13 mm) was the only effective extract among the fruits by showing antibacterial effect on S. aureus. The highest inhibition was calculated against F. solani in P. anatolica branch with 33,33%. The cytotoxic effect of P. anatolica and P. amygdaliformis extract MCF-7 cancer cell lines was evaluated according to cell death rates by applying cell proliferation. P. elaeagnifolia extract could not be used in this experiment because it was not enough. No cytotoxicity was detected in the extracts. As a result, it has been revealed that the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of the wild pears used can be used as a drug supplement, a bioactive material in the food industry and human nutrition.
