Flight crew resource management for the prevention of aircraft accidents with human factor risk (An example of Turkish Pilots)

Technical issues in the early years of aviation mainly caused most of the accidents happened. With developments in technology and production of more reliable aircrafts, the accidents caused by technical reasons could be significantly reduced. The scientific researches of the near past show that many aviation accidents are caused by human error. An important part of aircraft accidents have their origin in mistakes of the cockpit crews in "communication", "teamwork", "situational awareness", "leadership", "workload and stress management?. For this reason, both within and outside of the aircraft to the existing environment, software, hardware and knowledge with people of all resources which are the basis of all flight missions and in this sense the possibility to perform safely and effectively in order to reduce aircraft accidents Crew Resource Management (CRM) programs have been developed. CRM is a solution proposal for accident prevention in order to eliminate and reduce errors that effect aircraft accident. It is thought as rules of conduct in behavior and attitude to be gained by the cockpit crew.This study is trying to explain the concept and importance of human factor in aircraft accidents and is intending to draw attention to the importance of CRM in reducing the number of accidents. For this purpose, with a view from general to specific information specialist literature was obtained and used. Human factors were given places in examples of aircraft accidents and it was questioned whether CRM could have avoided accidents that happened in the past. The part of the study analyzing the accidents, benefited from the opinions and views of the Captains and First Officers.Additionally an inquiry has been done with 120 Captain and First Officers.Keywords: Aircraft Accidents, Human Factor in Aircraft Accidents, Crew Resource Management
