Abstract (EN)

Muslim people pay attention to whether the food they consume is appropriate according to Islam or not. Nowadays, change in the eating habits due to availability of the international food trade, which is a result of capitalism and globalisation, religiously inappropriate food has been started to find its place in the tables of the Muslims. This is causing speculative situations for Islamic culture. This study aims to show the effects of gender, piety, and the income level on awareness, expectations, and attitude on consuming religiously appropriate food by the collaborative work of the students of the divinity, nutrition and dietetics, food engineering, tourism, and business administration departments. It is observed that the level of piety varies according to gender and department. In addition, piety raises the awareness towards consumption of religiously legitimate food. It is also observed that student's attention to the food they purchase varies depending on which department they are in.
