Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between university students' levels of fear of missing out (FOMO) and levels of loneliness according to different variables. For this purpose, a total of 415 people studying in different departments of the Faculty of Education at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in the academic year of 2017-2018 have been participated in the study. The departments, the student are studying, have been categorized into four main groups: Mathematics-Science, Social-Language, Preschool-Class, Art-Music. 205 of the 415 students who have participated in the study are female students and 210 of them are male students. The "Personal Information Form" in which some variables have been created by the researcher, "The Fear of Missing out Scale at Social Environments" and "UCLA Loneliness Scale" have been applied to the students. According to the answers given by university students, explanatory statistical procedures, for normality Kolmogrov-Smirnov test, for relation Pearson Correlation Coefficient, t-test, "one-way-anova" in the comparison of multiple group averages, Bonferroni in Post-Hoc tests have been used for the analyzes. As a result of the study, it has been found that there is no important diversity between loneliness and fear of missing out. Fear of missing out has been found at the end of a study in which scores of fear of missing out differentiate significantly according to the variables "what purpose they use for internet" and "the types of self forgiveness in the face of events". However, It has been found that the fear of missing out doesn't differ according to the variables such as the students' "gender", "the departments they are in'', "with whom they stay'', "the tools they have access to internally'', "the ways they communicate'', "the groups they communicate with best'', "attitudes towards others in the face of events", "activities that they do when they feel alone", "economic situations" and "situations of daily social relations". It has been resulted that Loneliness has a significantly different level within variables such as "departments", "with whom they stay '',"types of self forgiveness in the face of events", "economic situations" and "situations of daily social relations". It has concluded loneliness has no significant relation according to variables such as "gender", ''the departments they are in '', "the tools they have access to internally'', "the ways they communicate'', "the groups they communicate with best'', "the types of self forgiveness in the face of events", "attitudes towards others in the face of events", "activities that they do when they feel alone",
