Investigation of the relationship between the psychological needs of university students and their attitudes to the future and their perceived future employability

It is aimed to examine the relationship between university students' psychological needs, their attitudes toward the future, with their employability in the perceived future in this study. A correlational model was used in this research, which is a quantitative study. To collect the data, the data were collected on a voluntary basis after the approval of the ethics committee and the permission of the institution. The study group of the research consisted of 676 students, 295 of whom were women (43.6%) and 381 of whom were men (56.4%). New Psychological Needs Assessment Scale, Future Attitude Scale, Perceived Future Employability Scale, and Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The data collected in the research were transferred to the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program and statistical analyzes were made. Independent samples t-test, One Way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data obtained. As a result of the research, ıt has been determined that the mean score of university students' perception of future employability does not differ significantly according to gender. As a result of the comparison of university students made according to the faculty/school variable; It was found that the perceived future employability score average of the Vocational School of Technical Sciences students was significantly higher than the students' score of both the Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. It has been determined that the mean score of university students' perception of future employability does not differ significantly according to class level. In this study, a positive relationship was found between ''positive'' and ''planned'' which are sub-dimensions of the Perceived Future Employability Scale and the Future Attitude Scale, and ''achievement'', ''relationship'', ''autonomy'' and ''dominance'', which are sub-dimensions of the New Psychological Needs Assessment Scale. In addition, a negative relationship was found between the Perceived Future Employability Scale and the anxious sub-dimension of the Future Attitude Scale. As a result of the multivariate linear regression analysis, it was determined that the positive and planned sub-dimensions of the Future Attitude Scale were predictors on the future employability perception scores. Additionally, ''achievement'', ''relationship'' and ''autonomy'' sub-dimensions of the New Psychological Needs Assessment Scale were found to predict future employability perception.
