Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT DETARMINATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE INVESTMENT DECISIONS OF SME ENTERPRISES IN THE PRODUCTION AREA EMİN KAZIMOV Today, SMEs constitute a large part of the industry in the world economy. US, European Union and Far East countries see SMEs as an important tool for economic development. SMEs also have an important place in Turkish industry. In this study, it is aimed to examine the factors affecting investment decisions in SMEs. The research was conducted between January and March 2019 in 65 SMEs operating in the 2nd and 3rd organized industrial zones of Gaziantep. This is a descriptive study. Personnel, R & D departments, financing and establishment characteristics of SME enterprises constitute "independent" variables in the research, while factors such as sector, region and additional investment decisions to be invested are "dependent" variables. SMEs mostly operate in Metal and Plastic (26.2%) and Textile (20.0%) respectively. Half of SMEs have been active for more than 17 years and 55.4% (n = 36) employ 50-249 employees. In the research, there is no significant difference between independent factors such as type of enterprise, R & D department status, firm age, number of employees, capital status and turnover level and investment decisions. It is thought that factors such as insufficient institutionalization of SMEs, the fact that business owners are still in charge of production, management and marketing departments, and the tendency to continue marketing activities through traditional methods create negative effects on investment decisions made in the enterprise and cause uncertainty. Similar studies should be repeated in larger populations. Keywords: SME, investment decision, industry, enterprise, sector
