Importance of phase-cost system at production plants: A sample application in a dairy plant in province Aydın

Dairy products, which are consumed by millions of people every day, are curial group of food for balanced and healthy nourishment. Dairy products sector has an important place at world economy. Due to the recent development in technology and changes in political and economical situation the sector has grown and competition has increased day by day. The increasing global competition leads to the necessity of producing higher quality products with lower costs. Under those circumstances, the importance of cost accounting increases. It is possible only with an effective cost accounting system to correctly calculate the costs of products and services and to control expenses.The purpose of this study is to calculate the appropriate unit costs for the sample company by stating the company structure of diary sector. In this respect, by revealing structure of diary sector, which is a growing sector, it is defined how to apply phase-cost system that ought to identify costs accurately in Ör-Koop production plant that has operations in diary sector in Aydın.
